Coach Mustard’s Coaching Philosophy
I believe that coaching starts with relationships. If you can build strong connections with your athletes, coaches, and community, they can and will do amazing things. Once those relationships are built, you have the foundation needed to implement the strategies that will build a strong program, year after year.
I will instill in my teams the importance of hard work and dedication. Through a carefully planned off-season program and in season practice regimen they will learn to play hard, play smart, and be disciplined. We will not be out-worked and will focus on developing the skills and fundamentals that will lead them to success on the court. Through this process we will develop these students into young men that will take the lessons learned in basketball with them long after their high school careers are over.
My staff will be a reflection of my philosophy. We will lead by example. The energy, hard work, and dedication we put into our preparation will be evident to our players. We will combine precise, honest evaluations of our athletes with carefully formulated scouting reports to do all we can to put our players in the best position to win each night.
"People ask me why I coach high school basketball, why I teach. They say I could make more money, have more freedom doing other things, and they are probably right. I give them a very simple answer, 'It's about working with kids and making a difference, like my teachers and coaches did for me', thats why I teach and coach." -Coach Chad Mustard
